I have always been fascinated by nature’s hidden flavors. During my search for something pure and refreshing, I discovered Shiso: an ancient Japanese herb with a uniquely botanical character, often described as a mix of mint, basil, and anise.

What is shiso?

Shiso leaves are naturally rich in antioxidants, polyphenols, and essential vitamins such as A and C. They also provide minerals including calcium and iron. Traditionally, shiso has been valued in Japanese food culture for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, for example in preserving the freshness of raw fish.

Studies attribute to shiso a range of benefits: supporting digestion, strengthening the immune system, reducing oxidative stress, and contributing to overall vitality and energy.

In addition to its nutritional value, shiso has been researched for its bioactive compounds, including rosmarinic acid and perillaldehyde. These substances are associated with anti-allergic effects, respiratory support, and a calming influence on the body.
